A stunning collection of rare images from the first line-up. Deep
Purple came together at the height of the psychedelic era and much of
the band's music reflected the prevailing mood. It was also reflected
in the design and visual look of the band's releases, an aspect of
their history which has been overlooked.
This book brings together
photographs (on and off stage and in the studio), posters, tickets
and gig adverts, rare ephemera and memorabilia, record sleeves, press
sheets, tape boxes and more. The majority of the material is rare and
has never been in a book before, with unseen images from the band's
first ever gigs through to the final shows in 1969. Numerous
photographers have contributed, along with fans and collectors,
record labels and people connected with the group. All the images are
fully annotated to tell the story of the band's early career.
We can show the cover here. A number of page previews will be
available to us in a few days along with a link to the publishers
website (who will also offer an contact address where fans can
receive more details and any pre-publication offers). DPASMailorder will also be stocking the title ahead of release date and it will be
available through book shops. |
